Antonia Hockton

Stone is a material that gets in the blood, I knew it as soon as I made my first tentative steps to shape it. Each year I learn to control it more and with that freedom of confidence I can allow it to reveal its own natural character. Any material that is organic can present surprises, and each new block has a unique texture and appearance. All my work involves stone: repairing ancient sculpture or carving my own work. The two facets of my business as an artist and a restorer are separate entities, feeding each other but not defining one another.
